Muhammad Ali & David Beckham present Matiullah Haidar with Inaugural Generation Ali Beyond Sport Award

Monday night, legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, his wife and Co-Founder of the Generation Ali Center Lonnie Ali, and David Beckham presented the Inaugural Generation Ali Beyond Sport Award to Matiullah Haidar.

This new award, created in partnership between Beyond Sport and Generation Ali Center, recognizes and celebrates a young person who has embodied the essence of leadership and inspiration through sport. Service, Leadership, and Positive Action are the three key qualities in the Award Winner, who has attained these through a journey that has gone Beyond Sport.

19 year old Matiullah lost his family in the conflict in Afghanistan then came to the UK four years ago as a refugee. Since he arrived, he has gained knowledge of the English language and exposure to the sport of cricket through Cricket for Change’s Refugee Cricket Project. Matiullah has continuously defied adversity and now uses his experiences to play an integral role in Cricket for Change.
