Street League wins P&G UK Impact Award!

Street League has been named the winner of the P&G UK Impact Award in association with The Daily Telegraph.

Announced last night at the Beyond Sport London Reception, the P&G UK Impact Award, in association with the Daily Telegraph, was created to celebrate those programmes that are the most innovative and impactful in using sport to promote positive social change across the nation.

This year six organisations were shortlisted as finalists for the Award. They include:

-Changing Lives Through Football (Street League, nationwide)

-Extra Time (Football Foundation, England)

-School of Hard Knocks (School of Hard Knocks Charity, London)

-Tackling Inequality, Empowering Ability (Everton in the Community, Merseyside)

-The Respect Programme (Pompey Sports and Education Foundation, Portsmouth)

-Promoting Diversity Through Sport (PeacePlayers International, Belfast).

Last night in front of a packed space at Thomas Lyte (Burlington Arcade, London), Founder of Beyond Sport Nick Keller announced Street League as the winner of the unique Award.

Street League uses the power of football to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people in London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Machester and Newcastle. Started in 2001 as an organization focusing its efforts on helping the homeless, Street Football now works with 16-25 year old NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training), Young Offenders and Substance Misusers. Through programs structured around football and education training, 72% of Street Football’s Academy graduates carry on to secure successful job employment or pursue mainstream education or training.

As a recipient of the P&G UK Impact Award, Street Football will now receive global recognition and exclusive access to partnership and media opportunities. Street League will also receive funding and a substantial business package of technical support to help them grow and become sustainable.

Last night’s Reception, almost a month away from the Beyond Sport Summit to be hosted in London, also offered attendees the opportunity to see the Beyond Sport Leadership In Sport Award presented to Seb Coe and Keith Mills.
